Whoo Hoo! Nearly the holidays!

Not long now until we break up from school and I have 2 whole weeks at home to really get some stuff made instead of just thinking about doing it!
A few photographs to share from last week. I was waiting until I could take photographs in natural light so I'm only just uploading them. The jars are for the 3 girls that work in my class at school, each one has a monogrammed tag. They are all packaged up ready to take into work at the end of the week. I'm not sure what will happen to the little tin that I altered using Basic Grey papers, it looks quite sweet sitting on my desk but perhaps that will also turn into the basis of a gift for someone.

Tonight we've booked our holidays up for the summer. We're off to Italy again - Lido de Jesolo near to Venice for the first week and Riva Del Garda on Lake Garda for the second week WooHoo! I can't wait.

It's nearly time ...

... to munch the eggs! Only four more get ups until I break up for the Easter hols and I'm starting to get 'egg-cited' (oh dear!)

Still learning how to do digi...

...My brain feels like it is about to explode but I have finally managed to make a digi layout that I think is okay-ish. With a bit of help from my pad friends I've learned how to do drop shadows, use actions to make normal fonts look like they have been foam stamped and how to give my photographs an inked edge. I have been on my computer for hours and I can't remember how I did some of the things but I'm beginning to learn a bit more about Photoshop Elements 5. I'm off to lie down in adarkened room and let my brain slow down a bit - it's whizzing along faster than a speeding train!

Closing my eyes and making a wish...

...and wishing for a room like this to get creative in!

Just imagine how creative I would feel all of the time if I could play and snoop around in there. Unfortunatley it is only a dream as it belongs to the talented Heather. I've been away today to a craft exhibition in Harrogate with my cousin who I hadn't seen for ages. It was lovely to catch up on news as we travelled down together and then to shop. I brought back a little hoard to play with this week and we had lunch in Starbucks which was superdelicious!

I bought the new Penny Vinchenzi book from Costco yesterday so I'm off to indulge my passion for reading new thick hardbacks.

Not a lot happening on a cold Wednesday night ...

I have done some crafty stuff but I'm waiting for natural light before I photograph it. Not a lot else going on in GeordieLand, the highlight of the night was washing Bear, he came home from school for some TLC and a bit of a clean up!

Using the scraps..

...that were left on the corner of my desk to make these cute little tags which are the start of 3 presents for Easter for the 3 girls who work with me in my class. They're to go on glass jars tied with ribbons that will eventually be filled with goodies and nibbles - I'll have to shop for those closer to the Easter holidays otherwise I'll have eaten them all! That's about all for the weekend, only 5 more days until the next one!!

More inchies...

These ones are for a swap on UKS. It's a kind of 'anything goes' theme and I decided to use images from the North East (me being a Geordie Girl!) - the Millenium Bridge, Angel of the North, Quayside, St Mary's Lighthouse and Newcastle Keep. As the title says they are only an inch square and are in fact super tiny!

Lovely weekend...

Last night we went across to my Brothers for a meal and I made gorgeous foccacia bread for the starter. It was delicious, as was his meal that he cooked for us. We had a great evening with good food and lots of chat and even Dixie (the cat) joined in!

Today is Mothers Day, I took my Mam for a walk at the seaside and a drive along the sea front from Whitley Bay to Tynemouth. It was absolutely freezing, sleeting and blowing a gale and there were people diving in the sea beside the lighthouse. I can't begin to imagine how cold they must have been as I was freezing cold with lots of layers and gloves and boot on!

So now we are back home staying warm and snuggly. It's only 2 weeks until I break up for the Easter holidays and I'm going to the zoo with my friend for a few days and before that I'm off to Harrogate for a craft exhibition next Saturday and I have pennies to spend!

Flowers ...

The house is full of birthday flowers. They've really brightened up our morning as it is grey and windy here today. The kind of day when you want to stay indoors - just perfect for a pyjama day filled with scrapping and window shopping online.

I made this layout last night, kind of a mini challenge over on the Design Collective's Blog, to scrap a layout under an hour. I used my new corner punch to create the scalloped edge which is a lot faster than drawing around my glue tub and hand cutting! A photograph of me playing on the swing last week when I took my class to the park for their community visit.

Busy Night ...

I had a really busy night on Wednesday making card orders. It was gone midnight by the time I had finished and I was trying to take photographs in very poor light and without waking the rest of the household! So the colours are all wrong and some are a bit out of focus but you get the idea. (Oh, and I was so tired that I forgot to take the photographs until I'd put them all in the cellophane bags and then I was too lazy to take them all back out.) I should get myself into gear and get organised to do these things earlier and not leave them to the last minute - but then I wouldn't be me!

Guess What...

Thought that would make you smile!!

It's red nose day today, raising money for comic relief. We had a wear something red day at school.

Got my crocs...

... and I've never had them off my feet! I'm already planning another pair - red I think next time.

Happy Birthday Mam ...

It's my mam's birthday today. The living room is full of cards and flowers, we've had birthday cake already and we're just waiting for our indian takeaway to arrive from The Last Days of the Raj - yummy!!

Blogger is finally allowing me to upload the photographs from our walk in the park on Sunday and it seems my little snow dance that I performed last week is working - we are forecast for snow next week!!

A bit of regret slipping ...

I was feeling so happy and I wrote a huge post about our walk in the park on Sunday and seeing signs of spring and sunshine and blue sky and then Blogger wouldn't let me upload any pictures so now I am feeling rather cross and seriously wishing that I hadn't left my typepad blog. I do not cope well with technology when it goes wrong and tend to say swear words!! So I shall leave this and come back on another day when Blogger is playing properly!!

Another Saturday ...

Today I've spent a few hours window shopping on the web. Just waiting for pay day so that I can buy more of Kate's doodled digi sets, the spring set from Gina Miller Designs and bits and pieces from ScrapArtist. I also wandered onto Decorate Your Feet and bought a lovely pair of Mary Jane Crocs, hopefully they'll arrive through the post quite early next week.

Tonight I spent ages updating my ipod. When I moved onto my new computer I lost all my tunes that were stored on it and it's taken me a while to get everything back on to it. I have a pretty mixed up selection of music on it from Barry Manilow (Yes, I am a huge fan of his and have seen him live twice!!) to The Kaiser Chiefs and Take That. Today I acquired the soundtrack to Music & Lyrics, Kaiser Cheifs - Yours Truly, Angry Mob and The Fray - How To Save A Life.
Yesterday I talked to my friend Clare and we decided to go away for a few days at Easter and take her daughter to Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire and I managed to book a £15 Travelodge room at Tamworth so that will be something to look forward to. When I lived in Rugby I used to visit the zoo lots as it was only 20 minutes drive and I've been wanting to go for ages but nobody would come with me.

Ooohh - Digi stuff

I didn't think I would ever become a digital scrapper but I've been making myself learn more about using photoshop other than for tweaking photographs and I thought doing digi would be a good idea. I've spent a happy hour tonight playing with photoshop and parts of a lovely kit that I bought from the LilyPad and this is the result. It may not look as good as some but I like it. I don't think I'll be giving up my paper and scissors in favour of a mouse and monitor just yet though!!

My Gallery

This is my gallery of my favourite cards that I have made. Some were made for Creative Team assignments and magazines and others were just for fun :)
